For Sale: 2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ Limited – Clean, Unmodified Survivor
Up for sale is a remarkably clean,
unmolested 2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ Limited. Finding a late-model XJ Limited that
hasn’t been lifted, cut up, or abused is becoming incredibly difficult. I
purchased this vehicle a little over two years ago to add to my private
collection. Since then, it has been stored exclusively inside a
climate-controlled shop, never seeing rain, snow, or outdoor overnight storage
under my ownership.
I am downsizing my collection to free
up space and simply don’t have the time to stretch its legs as much as it
deserves. During my ownership, I have put roughly 2,000 trouble-free miles on
it (including a flawless 200-mile round trip), changed the oil twice, and put on
a brand-new set of tires.
Body & Exterior
- Overall Condition: This is an exceptionally sharp,
high-quality "driver," not a trailer queen. It has excellent
shine and looks fantastic, though expect a few typical minor chips and
nicks from normal road use.
- Paint: It appears to have been
high-quality resprayed at some point in its life prior to my ownership.I
have pictured and video’d the paint defects.
- Rust Report: Solid and remarkably clean. The
body is entirely free of rot. The undercarriage is roughly 95% rust-free;
there is minor, typical surface rust underneath that could easily be
wire-wheeled and undercoated, but absolutely no structural rot.
Interior & Creature Comforts
- The Good: Extremely clean cabin. The
factory climate control works perfectly with ice-cold AC and hot heat. The
cruise control is fully functional, the headliner has been previously
replaced and looks great, and the overhead console display functions
properly.
- The Details: The driver’s seat bottom cushion
and cover were replaced by a previous owner so it looks and feels great,
though the driver-side seat heater is currently inoperable. The rear
passenger window regulator/motor is also currently non-functional.
Mechanical & Driving Dynamics
- The Drive: It starts right up, tracks
perfectly straight down the road, and drives exactly as a stock XJ should.
No death wobble.
- The Notes: The engine runs incredibly
strong, does not burn oil, and the fluids are completely clean. There is
an audible noise from the powertrain. I’ve been told it could be internal
engine-related or a noisy torque converter. It has never worsened during
my ownership and softens once the drivetrain reaches full operating
temperature.
- Because the rest of the body and
interior are in such premium condition, my original plan was to drop a
budget-friendly long-block engine into it down the road to make it a
forever vehicle. However, it runs so well that I chose to just drive and
enjoy it as-is. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere.
This is a phenomenal opportunity to
own a preserved, climate-controlled XJ Limited that has escaped the typical
rust and heavy modifications. Clean title in hand.
